Rundown – 30th August 2008
Our Trivia Night went off with a bang last Saturday night with many thanks to those that attended. The biggest show of support came from our wonderful teachers and their partners who made up nearly three tables worth! So thanks so much to you guys, and to the parents and friends who also attended and made our night such a success.
Over $3000 was raised to go towards our soft fall area underneath the play equipment, which is a good start. We still have a long way to go, but we’ll get there eventually!
Many opened up their wallets to pay for balloons, games, raffle tickets and auction items for the chance to win some great prizes, and of course, our fabulous Clue Fairy, Mrs Sharon Groves, who donned her sparkly wings and flitted around selling clues to those that got stuck with some of the questions. Well done Sharon!
Thankyou also to all the P&C Members who helped set up on the day and jumped in to help here and there on the night. It takes a lot to put an event like this together and a great team to make it run smoothly.

What is a P&C Association?
A Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) is a school-based organisation with membership open to parents, teachers, students and interested citizens.
P&C is not just a fundraising committee. It is:
- a forum to bring parents, citizens, students and teaching staff together;
- where parents have a chance to keep up to date with all school activities and to have a say in any issues that concern them or their child at our School.
- an opportunity to contribute to the School's resources through various fundraising projects and decides how the money raised is spent;
- encourages parent and community participation in curriculum and other educational issues in our School.

So what does The Beresford Road Public School P&C do?
- The P&C organise social events and fund raisers such as

- Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls for the students to purchase gifts for their parents or grandparents,
- School ‘Working Bee’,
- The major event for the year such as a school Bush dance,
- The “5 cent round up” challenge,
- The P&C run the school uniform shop from the front office on nominated
days to enable parents to purchase all the clothing required for school and sports, including school bags, paint shirts and other school needs. Without this volunteer service, parents would need to go to shops outside of the Greystanes area to purchase uniform needs.
- The P&C gives feedback to the Principal and Teachers on current issues regarding the school including curriculum issues, resources etc.
When does the P & C meet?
The P&C meets on the first Tuesday night of each month from 7:30pm in the staffroom (through the front office), unless otherwise specified (due to school holidays etc). It is usually advertised in the school newsletter (which comes out every Tuesday, and you can access it via the school internet site from Wednesday).
You are most welcome to come along and see how your School P&C operates even if your child hasn’t started school.
